Key Challenge: In order to maintain cleanliness to hospital standards, infection control and dust containment were top priorities in addition to the rushed schedule to complete construction with many surprises behind the walls and ceiling. Working together with Francine Kidd (Director of Infection Control), Solica was able to implement and maintain aggressive cleanliness standards and please physicians, patients, and the hospital’s executive leadership.
Project Description: Complete renovation of 15,000 s.f. kitchen and servery that was completed while cafeteria remained open. Food preparations for patients and some basic cafeteria services continued while a major renovation was being completed behind the scenes. The project included the demolition of all building systems and finishes in addition to kitchen equipment.
Acosta Commercial Kitchen

Key Challenge: The client wanted to leave exposed ceiling and ducts to create a modern environment but there were extensive improvements to the roof, duct-work, and necessary fireproofing to bring the building up to modern code.
Project Description: This project renovated the old, empty “Cappels” building into a modern, commercial showcase kitchen and training center. The historic building was retrofitted with modern finishes and top of the line MEP and technology to offer a state of the art food prep showcase and training facility. Acosta is a major supplier to Kroger and uses the 30 chicken spit-roaster to draw attention to their ability to create high quality food products without sacrificing time and energy.
